When we arrived at the Campamento the first day, the smell of sewage, the sight of dirt and disrepair and mangy dogs was so striking that it made you question whether you could ever experience joy in this area or whether we would be able to ever see joy in this area. By the time we left the last day, the smell of sewage was still there, the dirt and much disrepair was still there, the mangy dogs were still there, but we no longer questioned whether there was joy in this area. The small children were as happy as any children at home in the US. The adults were clearly happy among their family and friends. They were happy and appreciative for the work done. The experience was a striking lesson for those of us on this Christian journey: to see and experience, firsthand, joy and suffering - two important elements of Catholic faith. Bob 2014
